There are eight Wildlife officers based around the county to protect Lancashire's different wildlife and their habitats.
There are some people who target animals and threaten their habitats through acts of cruelty, theft or even poaching, our wildlife officers help officers all over the county to investigate these crimes and may even take these people to court.
Meet Duncan...
PC Duncan Thomas is Lancashire Constabulary's full time wildlife officer.
He spends a lot of his time talking to local people and organisations like the RSPB, Natural England, Environment Agency, land owners, sporting estates and the wildlife trusts to make sure he understands their issues and advises them on the law.
