Neighbourhood Watch on the Look Out to Combat Menace of Identity Theft |

Neighbourhood Watch Groups across the UK are to be mobilised in a fight to Combat the menace of Bin-raiding and Identity Theft.
Paper Shredder Manufacturer ACCO Rexel has joined forces with the 'National Neighbourhood Watch Association' to launch a Nationwide Crime Prevention Campaign, I.D Watch, aimed at protecting people from the growing threat of Identity Fraud. Identity Fraud claimed 120,000 victims last year costing the Country over £1.3 billion every year.
Plans are being developed to have Workshops and Presentations available to Neighbourhood Watch Groups across the U.K.
TOP TIPS Dispose of Financial statements, Card receipts and Personal Documents with care, Shred any such Documents before binning them. Always keep important Personal Documents, Plastic Cards and Cheque Books in a safe place and Keep Cheque Books and Card separate.
Valuable documents include your PASSPORT, BIRTH CERTIFICATES, DRIVING LICENCE, PLASTIC CARDS AND CARD RECEIPTS, FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AND EVE UTILITY BILLS. Without access to this Inormation a Criminal will find it very difficult to pretend to be you.
Don't share Personal Information unless you are entirely confident you know who you are dealing with. Be particularly cautious if you are COLD CALLED by someone claiming to be from the Bank or the Police. Ask them for their Number, check it, and call them back. Also be wary of responding to EMails requesting Information about you. If in Doubt request proof of Identity and undertake your own checks. Never disclose your Pin Number (Personal Identification Number) to Anyone.
Always check Bank Statements and receipts carefully against statements carefully.
