Welcome
tO the Lancashire Neighbourhood Watch Forum ‘s (L.N.W.F.) Website
Neighbourhood Watch is a Partnership where people get together to make their Communities Safer. It involves the Police, Community Safety Departments of Local Authorities, other Voluntary Organisations and above all, Individuals and families who want to make their Neighbourhoods better and safer places.
It is a well known fact that people's perception of crime is far worse than the actual crime in the area. Neighbourhood Watch can lessen these fears just by people knowing we are there. Therefore., the object of our Website is to not only provide information to our watch members throughout the County with regard to news and Initiatives at National, County and local level, but to enable the residents of Lancashire to keep up to date with all relevant Crime Prevention initiatives and General Safety News / information in an effort to reduce the fear of crime and assist in enabling people to feel safe and secure. |

Neighbourhood Watch
Lancashire Constabulary fully supports neighbourhood watch and recognises that co-ordinators are not there just to help the police but are also community volunteers. They provide a vital link between the public and police.
Community beat managers work closely with individual watches. As neighbourhood policing is developed neighbourhood watch co-ordinators will be a vital part of the neighbourhood team, not only to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour but also to make their community a better place to live.
If you would like to start a neighbourhood watch please contact your local police station |

Free Electric Blanket Safety Checks
Lancashire County Council’s Trading Standards Service will be running free safety checks on electric blankets this November.
The tests will be taking place at:
Monday 24th November 2008 – Lancaster Fire Station, Cable Street, Lancaster.
Tuesday 25th November 2008 – Fleetwood Fire Station, Radcliffe Road, Fleetwood.
Wednesday 26th November 2008 – St Annes Fire Station, St Andrews Road North, St Annes.
Thursday 27th November 2008 – Burnley Fire Station, Belvedere Road, Burnley.
Friday 28th November 2008 – Ormskirk Fire Station, County Road, Ormskirk.
The testing will be offered to Lancashire residents and on a strict appointment only basis.
Residents should telephone 01772 533569 to book an appointment.
The tests will be conducted by a qualified electrical engineer.
All electric blankets over 3 years old should be regularly tested. Members of the public, particularly the elderly, are urged to get their electric blankets checked. The testing only takes about 10 minutes but it is an important safety check which could save someone’s life. By getting them checked out you can have peace of mind that it is safe. |
